Pre-treatment Care

Before any facial treatment, you should take the following precautions to ensure the desired results are achieved with minimal discomfort.

Avoid drinking alcohol as it opens up blood vessels and may increase bruising or swelling. Drink plenty of water and stay out of the sun. If you are using aspirin or similar medication, be aware that these may increase bruising and bleeding at the injection sites, therefore, consult your practitioner for advice. Most importantly, plan ahead, if multiple areas are being treated and you are prone to bruising, book an appointment on a Friday so you may recover as best as possible over a weekend.

Here is a checklist of questions that are likely to be asked by your practitioner before treatment:

  • Do you have any allergies to foods or medicines?
  • Have you ever had an anaphylatic reaction?
  • Do you have any diagnosed medical conditions?
  • Do you have any skin problems, such as acne, skin rashes, eczema, rosea or other skin problems?
  • Have you ever had Herpes Simplex (cold sores)?
  • Have you been treated with other injectable dermal fillers in the past 6 months?
  • Have you ever had medium depth chemical face peels (TCA) or Laser skin resurfacing (Erbium or CO2 Laser) in the past 6 months?
  • Have you had facial surgery?
  • Are you taking any medications/vitamins/herbs?
  • Are you pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breastfeeding?
